Learning OutcomesGraduates of the B.S. in Human Services Leadership program will be able to: Examine present conditions in the field of human services and explain how different human services emerged and the various forces that influenced their development. Examine the scope of conditions that promote or inhibit human functioning and determine appropriate responses to human needs. Evaluate policies and create processes to effect social change through advocacy work at all levels of society including community development, community and grassroots organizing, and local and global activism. Obtain, synthesize, and clearly report information from various sources. Develop and assess programs for clients and client groups in promoting optimal functioning, growth, and goal attainment. Demonstrate interviewing and active listening skills with empathy and awareness of one’s own values, cultural bias, philosophies, personality. Demonstrate skills in the administrative aspects of the human services delivery system. Apply ethical standards outlined by the National Organization for Human Services/Council for Standards in Human Service Education.
