Adjunct Faculty

JOB SUMMARY:

Peirce College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach in primarily online and/or hybrid learning environments. The College offers undergraduate degree programs in Business, Health and Human Services, Information Technology, Legal Studies, and Liberal and General Studies. Graduate degree offerings include Organizational Leadership and Management, Operations Management, Nonprofit Leadership, Healthcare Administration, Public Health Administration, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Higher Education Leadership. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Creates inclusive learning experience that respects diversity, enables participation, removes barriers, and anticipates and considers a variety of learning needs and preferences

  • Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds

  • Prepares lesson plans and teaches courses per the syllabus and defined course outcomes

  • Delivers synchronous and asynchronous instruction and engages students in the learning process  

  • Delivers 90-minute synchronous session one evening per week for the duration of the course

  • Provides weekly substantive and timely feedback on students’ assessments that lead to a final grade

  • Documents students’ attendance, participation, and academic progress on a weekly basis

  • Submits final course grades to the Registrar by the assigned date via the portal

  • Communicates and maintains posted office hours (1 hour per week per course)

  • Complies with the College’s faculty professional development requirements  

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Application of adult learning theory and principles

  • Application of active learning strategies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

PREFERRED (DESIRED) SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proficient with Canvas Learning Management System preferred

  • Proficient in using web conferencing tools such as Zoom

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in field with a minimum of two (2) years successful teaching in higher education and/or other related experience.

  • Doctorate/terminal degree or approved equivalent required for graduate instruction with a minimum of two (2) years successful teaching in higher education and/or other related experience.

  • Credential requirements may vary depending on degree program accreditation/approval.

  • Experience with teaching online or hybrid courses preferred.

HOURS:

Day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, as required.

Faculty Chair / Program Manager / Dean
