Paraprofessional and Professional Tutors: Medical Coding

Peirce College is hiring tutors to provide tutoring services in order to assist students with assigned work in a one-on-one and/or group tutoring setting(s). These roles are responsible for determining student needs as displayed by strengths and weaknesses; and determining appropriate strategies to maximize student learning, success, and independence.

FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides individual and/or group tutoring to students on both scheduled and drop-in bases.
  • Identifies students' academic needs and challenges and offers reinforcement or strategies that maximize students' academic success.
  • Maintains accurate records of meetings with students.
  • Attends mandatory trainings and meetings.

REQUIRED:

  • Associate's Degree (or equivalent experience) required for Paraprofessional level.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) required for Professional level.
  • Documented grade(s) of A- or better in appointed subject(s).
  • Experience with inpatient (ICD-10-CM/PCS) and/or outpatient/physician (ICD-10-CM, CPT,HCPCS) coding.
  • Three (3) years coding specific AHIMA or AAPC credential required.
  • Tutoring/training experience preferred.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO:

  • Effectively communicate and convey information to students.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality with all aspects of the job duties.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.

STATUS:

Auxiliary Part-Time. Vacancies are based upon enrollment and/or the needs of our students.

HOURS:

May include day, evening, and weekend responsibilities, as required. Hours may change based upon the needs of the College.
